Can AI provide personalized nutrition advice?

In January 2024, Professor Susan Jung-Su Chang from the School of Nutrition and Health Sciences at Taipei Medical University was interviewed by Nutrition Insight, a media in the Netherlands dedicated in providing up-to-date information on nutrition and health trends.

Prof. Chang’s team has dedicated their research in the field of eNutrition care. During the interview, Chang shared insights from her new article, titled “Consistency and Accuracy of Artificial Intelligence for Providing Nutritional Information,” published in the JAMA Network.

The study revealed that open artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots, specifically ChatGPT-3.5 and ChatGPT-4, demonstrated promising results in providing personalized nutrition information, comparable to advice offered by real-life nutritionists. In a subsequent interview, Chang elaborated on the motivations and methodology behind the study. She emphasized that nutritionists and AI are not rivals in personalized nutrition. Additional detailed information about the interview is available online.
